Clearly I’ve got a thing for the classics and children literature. [Interesting I have no problem airing my eclectic musical taste for all the blogosphere to see, but when it comes to books I hide my paperbacks in the closest… what’s up with that? The fact is I don’t read ENOUGH, or at least — I don’t read as much as I’d like. Maybe I should take a pledge on this World Book Day to READ MORE! But would that mean I’d have to blog less? Hmmmm.]

Right now, my Kindle (#2) is on my nightstand. Kindle #1 goes in my tote bag when I travel to the college, not that there’s ever much time to read there. Never, ever thought I would like the Kindle ~ I am a “hold the book in my hands” kind of person, but I love being able to take a collection of varied reading with me when I travel. I still have way too many books at home….currently, I have 6 books written by FB “friends” that await my reading, probably over the summer. My brain doesn’t seem to retain much of what I read (too many music notes rattling around in there, is my excuse!) and by the time I get home in the evening, I’m too tired to read more than a page or two of some paperback that sort of catches my attention. I loved the “Sisterhood” series by Fern Michaels and was sad to see it end. I thoroughly enjoyed the “Virgin River” series by Robyn Carr. I love happy endings ~ so unlike what real life hands us. I love to read ~ it is one of the great joys of my life. “Simple Abundance” by Sarah Ban Breathnach was a life-changing book for me. I love all of her books. I also love the books by Alexandra Stoddard. I collect cook books ~ I sort of read them like science fiction ~ “how interesting, but I’ll never go there!” 🙂 (More than you wanted to know, I’m sure!)

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman and Sense and Sensiblity by Jane Austen

Right now? Neil for modern stuff and Jane for Classic stuff

Persuasion

Harry Potter
What was / is your favorite book as a child?
The Happy Holisters (Because my dad read them out loud to us one chapter a night. Ohhhh those Holisters could get into such fixes trying to solve crime! )
What genre of literature do you gravitate you?
Historic Fiction, Classic, Chic Lit.
Bound / paper or e-book? And why?
Both. I really like that I can make the type nice and big on my Kindle, but I like the feel, look, smell of a well designed real book.
Where is your favorite place to read?
My easy chair.
What’s the one thing that keeps you from reading?
Getting sleepy and the dog.
AND… what / who do you wish some one would write a book about?
Queen Lin of Korea (Who I learned about when doing this blog) She’s awesome, tragic and would make a fantastic subject for a historical fiction book.

Favorite author – Leo Tolstoy
Favorite book – War & Peace
I tend to read literary fiction and prefer bound books but am getting used to e-books more.
I love reading in bed or sprawled out on the couch.
